In a duel of fierce rivals, which represents one of the biggest rivalries of Italian but also European volleyball, Leo Shoes Modena prevailed over Itas Trentino by a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21) in the match valid for Round 8 of the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season. Last season, Modena lost both matches to Trentino prior to the play-offs and now, they are on a good way to take full revenge on the rivals for this.
Ivan Zaytsev with 18 points and Pole Bartosz Bednorz with 6 aces led the home side of Modena to a valuable victory in front of 5,000 spectators at the sold-out PalaPanini. Luca Vettori and American Aaron Russell top-scored for Trentino with 17 points apiece. The latter has served 5 aces.
With this win, Modena continued to breathe down the neck of the leaders in the charts Cucine Lube Civitanova. Modena are at 7-1, while Lube remained the only undefeated team with 9-0 after beating Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia on the road by a 3-1.
