A two-time CEV EuroVolley winner (2003 and 2005) with the Italy National Team, Cernic, doesn’t want to stop playing although he’s about to turn 42. After the experience in the country’s fourth division, where he wore the jersey of M2G Group Bari, the outside hitter joined Volley Club Grottaglie and will compete in the fifth rank of Italian volleyball (Serie C) next season.
Cernic more than successfully defended the colors of the “Azzurri“ between 1998 and 2010 with whom he also entered the final of the 2004 Athens Olympics. He recorded more than 300 appearances in the SuperLega but didn’t win any gold medals in this competition. However, among other club trophies, Cernic was the Russian champion once (Dinamo Moscow), CEV Cup winner twice (Fakel and Leo Shoes Modena), and CEV Challenge Cup once (Sir Safety Conad Perugia). When he won the CEV Cup with Modena, in 2007, he was named MVP.
