National team of Italy
Russia pulled off a crown from Serbia, and got revenge for defeat in semis two years ago, Italy stopped Bulgarians who were on fire… Both teams took their rightful place in the closing match of the tournament.
It is interesting that one of these teams will finally put an end to the black period. Italy didn’t win gold medal on European Championship for eight years, while Russia is waiting for shiny prize much longer… “Zbornaya” was the best on continent last time in 1991, and interesting fact is that Russians defeated Italy in final back then.
Will history repeat itself? We will find out today.
Anyway, congratulations to both teams for reaching the final.
