In a surprising turn of events, Slovenian volleyball prospect Mia Šiftar, one of Europe’s brightest young talents, has swiftly secured a new team following her abrupt departure from Germany’s reigning champions. The reasons behind her sudden exit remain undisclosed.
Šiftar, an 18-year-old outside hitter, has joined the Italian A2 team, Valsabbina Millenium Brescia. Her move comes as a much-needed reinforcement following the injury of Simone Bikatal.
Šiftar has already made waves on the international stage, representing Slovenia’s senior national team and earning accolades in both domestic and international competitions. She has spent the last three seasons playing professionally, beginning with her home team, Calcit, where she claimed both the Championship and Cup titles. She then moved to France, playing for Saint-Raphaël Var and Mulhouse Alsace, where she reached the Cup finals and finished third in the league.
In 2023, Šiftar was named MVP of the European Youth Olympic Festival, further cementing her reputation as a rising star in the volleyball world.
Now, with her sudden transfer to Italy, all eyes will be on Šiftar as she steps up to strengthen her new team and continue her meteoric rise in the sport.
