Piacenza Cruises Past Monza
Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza delivered a flawless performance at home, sweeping Mint Vero Volley Monza 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-19). From the first serve, Piacenza looked in control, powered by an electric crowd and standout performances from Stephen Maar, who tallied 15 points and earned MVP honors. Teammates Kovacevic and Romanò chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Monza fought hard, with Szwarc (14 points) and Rohrs (12 points) leading their attack, but they couldn’t match Piacenza’s precision or defensive strength. The hosts dominated with a 55% attack efficiency and nine blocks, compared to Monza’s four.
Reflecting on the victory, Maar said, “It was a great match for us. We approached it the right way, worked hard in training, and the results showed. We just need to keep building on this momentum.”
Verona Silences Cisterna on the Road
In another impressive display, Rana Verona overcame Cisterna Volley in a straight-set win (25-23, 25-18, 25-23). Cisterna showed flashes of brilliance, particularly from Jordi Ramon (13 points) and Theo Faure (10 points), but costly errors and inconsistency left them unable to capitalize on important moments.
Verona’s captain Rok Mozic, who led his team with 14 points and claimed the MVP title, praised the squad’s composure in tough situations. “It was a tight match, but we stayed focused and executed when it mattered most,” he said.
For Cisterna, the loss is a wake-up call. “We need to work on the little details,” admitted Cisterna outside hitter Jordi Ramon. “Against top teams, you can’t afford mistakes like the ones we made today.”
