Milano struggled early, losing the first two sets despite staying close throughout. But everything changed in the third and fourth, when Paola Egonu caught fire, finishing with 31 points, and Hena Kurtagic added important blocks to shift the momentum. Their surge pushed the match to a tie-break, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
In the final set, though, Novara regained control. Britt Herbots, decisive off the bench, led the charge as Novara closed the match 15–11, sealing a 3–2 victory (25–20, 27–25, 17–25, 17–25, 15–11).
Novara’s attack was evenly shared, with Herbots, Ishikawa, and Baijens each posting 13 points. Mayu Ishikawa earned MVP honors.
After the match, Milano’s Francesca Bosio expressed regret for missed chances but said competing in front of such a crowd “was truly emotional.” Novara’s Carlotta Cambi praised her team’s spirit, proud of the heart they showed in the tie-break.
