CMC Romagna took advantage of a late completion of Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova team and were on the verge to beat them.
Romagna had 2-0 in sets, but Lube’s „dream team“ got a grip and with masterful Osmany Juantorena, who destroyed the hosts in tie-break, made a turnaround 3-2 (24-26, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-9). Juantorena was announced MVP of the match – 33 points. Marko Podraščanin added 12. Ivan Miljković was not in protocol.
In Romagna, Maarten van Garderen sttod out with 23 points. Maurice Torres contributed with 21.
The first match in the news season proved that Calzedonia Verona invested their money in the summer transfer window smartly.
Newcomers in their team were the best scorers in straight-set win against Sir Safety Conad Perugia, which could be classified as a surprise.
The game was a collision of Serbian players. On the side of winners, Saša Starović (11) and Uroš Kovačević (10) were among top 3 scorers (Taylor Sander had 12) while on the other, Aleksandar Atanasijević collected 15.
LPR Piacenza’s start is promissing for their fans after turbulent previous season in which they barely avoided to be shut down.
Piacenza demonstrated power against Revivre Milano with 17 points from John Gordon Perrin and 15 from legendary Hristo Zlatanov. There were no players with double digits in Milano.
As it was expected, Top Volley Latina easily outplayed Tonazzo Padova with 12 points from Gabriele Maruotti.
