The two games in less than 12 hours took a toll on Italy’s National Team - Thailand achieved their second win in the 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix – Group 1, 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11).

Italy suffered tough loss in last night’s derby against Russia, only after tie-break, which reflected a lot to their players on the Pool F match of third round (second weekend) versus Thailand, scheduled less than 12 hours afterwards. To be more precise, it was re-scheduled as it primarily should have been held on Friday, June 17 but was suspended due to blackout in Bari gymnasium.

Italy’s head coach Marco Bonitta was forced to send mostly his second line-up on court, but it does not diminish Thailand’s triumph to which they were led by Ajcharaporn Kongyot with 22 points. Paola Egonu had 24 in Italy.
