Foppapedretti
This match will be remembered by a monstrous display of Foppapedretti’s middle blocker duo Mina Popović – Martina Guiggi. They scored 39 points combined which makes more than one third of all points their team have scored tonight. Serbian Popović had 22 of which nine came from blocking while Guiggi noted 17. Foppapedretti had 16 blocks overall. Popović’s compatriot from Modena, Jovana Brakočević-Canzian, also scored 22 points. Foppapedretti remained fourth in the standings. Modena are seventh, still fighting for the playoffs.
Despite having 2,500 supporters on their side, Yamamay Busto Arsizio suffered third defeat in a row. This defeat will hurt more since it came from a last-placed Club Italia 3-1. Young star of Italian and also European volleyball, Paola Egonu, amazed once again by scoring 39 points, of which 5 were aces (Club Italia poured 14 aces overall) for the winning team. Valentina Diouf had 21 for Busto. This was only a second triumph of Club Italia this season.
