The feelings of Davide Mazzanti, the head coach of Italian Women’s Volleyball National Team, were a bit mixed after losing the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix finals to Brazil.

„Now it is very difficult to comment because we went within a whisker of victory and yet Brazil has outplayed us at the end. I’m so sorry because in the end of the first set and in the third set we wasted some good advantages. Particularly in the third set, we missed a lot, we could do better. I think we have missed a bit of lucidity in handling certain situations today. The thing I’m most sorry is that we have been so close to success, without expressing our full potential. From this tournament we have to take everything, all the positive things from today’s defeat. Our journey continues,“ Mazzanti said.

“I think the work done by the girls in the first set is something extraordinary. There are so many things we have to work on, but many have become certainties. We will have to turn the bitterness into a push to do even better. There is the great satisfaction that after a few years Italy won a medal in a competition of global significance,” the “Azzurre” head coach added.
