Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders, the top team from the regular season in South Korea’s Women’s V-League, claimed a dominant victory in Game 1 of the championship final.
Facing off against Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks, Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders won in straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-19), showing their strength on both offense and defense. Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung, playing in her final championship series before retirement, contributed 16 points and was a key player throughout the match.
Despite losing the first game, JungKwanJang showed moments of competitiveness, especially in the first two sets. However, they struggled with reception due to the absence of their starting libero, Noh Ran, who is sidelined with a back injury.
Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders now eyes its first championship title in six seasons, aiming for a complete victory after finishing as runner-up in the past two years.
Coach Hee-Jin Ko of JungKwanJang Red Sparks admitted his team is physically drained from a tough playoff run and hopes for a stronger showing in Game 2. The return of Noh Ran could be crucial for a comeback.
