The Korean Volleyball Federation has traditionally organized a tryout for female foreign players after which some of them will be drafted to compete in the next season’s top division.

This year’s Women’s V League tryout was held at the Goldring Centre for High Performance in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for which 34 foreign players applied.

Prior to the tryout, the two of six teams that will play the 2019/20 V League season decided to keep their foreigners from the last season. Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate renewed with the Spanish opposite hitter Milagros Collar, while IBK Industrial Bank Altos did the same with American opposite hitter Adora Anae. The salary for both players will increase from $ 150,000 per season, which is a maximum in Korea for the first year of the contract, to $ 200,000.

Out of remaining 32 players that applied for a tryout, 8 decided to give up in the last moment. There are several big names, just like each year, among players fighting for their place in the Korean top division: Italian opposite hitter Valentina Diouf, Argentinean opposite hitter Lucía Fresco, Cuban opposite hitter Dayami Sánchez

Korean Federation doesn’t give real information. The players who couldn’t participate to that try out the real reason is NON – ISSUING of CANADIAN VISAS cause of POOR ORGANIZATION of Korean Federation and Zero support at Embbassies of Canada !
Canadian Embassies treated players as ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ! KOVO announced try-out list too late also. Canadian Embassies doesn’t issue a visa earliest 10 days ! Even we gave all documents on time ( We have been playing play-offs ) we couldn’t catch that agenda also.
We just lost from our holiday time and spent money for visa applications, personal coaches to get fit and gym rents for nothing ! And just lost from our holiday time. Thanks for your wonderful support KOVO ! It was too smart idea to organize try-out in Canada . You are smart to show to International Volleyball Society that players themselvs decided to don’t participate to that try-out !

According to Korean Media, you couldn’t participate in tryout because of Cuba women’s volleyball national team schedule.
