Finland won’t be taking part in the U17 women’s EuroVolley that’s to take place in Podgorica, Montenegro, from October 1 to 9.
The Finnish federation (Suomen Lentopalloliitto Ry) decided to withdraw its national team despite the fact that the Montenegrin federation (OSCG) complied with strict hygiene and health protocols against COVID-19 to host all delegations, which was confirmed by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). Still, the EuroVolley will have 12 teams competing given that Poland, the next best team from the relevant European Ranking, was summoned to replace Finland.
All European Championships in base categories this summer, either men’s or women’s, faced withdrawals of national teams.
