The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) disclosed the list of eligible candidates for the first-ever FIVB Athletes’ Commission Elections, which consist of 16 players (11 female and five male) and on which the Azerbaijani female star Rahimova found her place. According to the statement she gave to our website in regard to this, she’s super-excited.
“Volleyball is my life and now it’s time to repay volleyball. I played high-level volleyball in different continents and countries – Europe, Asia, South America – for many years. I broke the world record, I won many prizes. I learned about different volleyball cultures. I’m in the world of volleyball for more than half of my life and will be its partner through our future, the children. Our children are a good chance for us to build a better life and I want to share my experience with young players who are hungry for volleyball,” the MVP of the 2016 CEV Women’s European League stated.
“I want a peaceful world. My country just came out of the Second Karabakh War. There are many children who lost their families during this war. I want to help them rehabilitate. The best way through which I can do it is through volleyball. My federation and I will help these children to survive. I traveled a lot in my life as a hobby but now I want to travel as much as I can to bring the volleyball passion to countries that love volleyball but can’t organize it well. I’m ready to be part of the FIVB volleyball aid projects,” a 30-year-old opposite hitter added.
Following the electoral process, the FIVB Athletes’ Commission will be composed of 10 members, five of which will be elected by the players and five appointed by the FIVB President. The application process for candidatures was open to all National Federations to nominate their respective candidates. The elections are due to take place during the last two weeks of January.
