The top-seed Suntory Sunbirds swept no.2 Panasonic Panthers in a single-game playoff final of 2020/21 Japanese Men’s V.League Division 1, held in Funabashi, by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) and won the championship title for the 8th time in the club history.

Just as through the entire season, in which his team had a winnings streak of 23 games at one point, Dmitriy Muserskiy led Suntory in a decider as well. The Russian giant highlighted the match with 28 points. Taiki Tsuruda made 77.3 % reception (11 digs). The Pole Michał Kubiak tallied 13 points for the Panthers, who failed to extend the match to the Golden Set (new rules of the V-League for the post-season).

Suntory won the league title for the first time in 14 years.
