It’s never good for a volleyball coach to get fired just before the start of the major competition for which he was preparing the team. That’s what happened to Mark Lebedew.
Lebedew, who took the position of the head coach of the Slovenia Men’s National Team in February was dismissed only six months after that. Under his leadership, Slovenia played only in the Volleyball Nations League where they finished in 10th place. This result didn’t satisfy the national federation but still, their decision to end their cooperation with the Australian expert just less than three weeks before the start of the FIVB World Championship was unexpected. Logically, Lebedew got bittered.
“It’s not easy being a volleyball coach. I’m angry and disappointed. As for the future, I have a few days off in Australia and then I’ll go to Friedrichshafen to prepare. The team has been working for two weeks,“ he said.
