Meanwhile the Dominican Republic beat Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei beat Korea, Japan beat Thailand, China beat Poland, Serbia beat Turkey, Brazil beat USA, Argentina played v Cuba and Germany played v Italy.
“It was a really tough match. We played in an amazing atmosphere and Brazil was great in defence, which made the match really difficult for us,” USA coach Hugh McCutcheon said “I am glad as my team played focused and did what we had agreed even in this unique atmosphere.“
