Sarai Alvarez added 13 points in the victory while regular series MVP Yarimar Rosa and Elizabeth McMahon each had 21 points in the loss.
The opening match of Series A had Ponce defeating Caguas Criollas in straight sets 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) at Hector Sola Bezares Coliseum.
Haley Eckerman and Kelsey Robinson finished with 18 points apiece in the winning cause while Karina Ocasio also had 18 points for the defeated side.
The series between the two teams continues on Sunday with the second match in Ponce.
