Bulgarian newspaper reported that Nikolov got involved in betting affair. Player denied it with open letter:
“Firstly, I apologize to everyone that deal with me and my problems with media. I’ve had them over the years and I believe that I will have them in the future. Usually, I don’t give a damn about it, but now, I can’t remain silent because they attacked not only me, but our sponsor who provide conditions for our children to practice volleyball. I’ve taken a commitment to these children, to their parents, I stood behind a project. Today, the newspaper “7 Days Sport” reported “scandalous affair about betting” that includes me. I took this sensational news to the court and I will sue them. All money will be invested to volleyball school. I have to explain to the millions of volleyball fans. From this season, the Bulgarian bet company “EfBet” is a sponsor of VC Levski and strategic partner of our volleyball school. So, as partners, I’m giving them some predictions which are part of our partnership. And it can easily be seen at the banner above my predictions. In this newspaper “7 Days Sport” my lawyers found over 200 predictions by the players. So, how is that possible? They can give suggestions, but when Vladimir Nikolov does it as a part of the partnership that supports our volleyball school, that becomes SCANDAL” – writes Nikolov, who also named some scandals produced by this Bulgarian newspaper, which can be seen here.
