The teams assigned to Pool C got together in Ostrava after the first round robin was completed this past week in Vienna, receiving a warm welcome by the Vice President of the Czech Volleyball Federation, Frantisek Kopecky, who is also the chairman of the local Organizing Committee.

Kopecky shared some thoughts and memories about the 2001 European Championship that were held in Ostrava and where the Czech national team finished in fourth place. That was the last real major event hosted by the city where elite Volleyball is returning back after more than 10 years.

The European qualifier will start on Friday with the match opposing Croatia that is currently ranked second in the group to the Former Y.R. of Macedonia. After that, the still unbeaten guys of the Czech team will play Austria hoping to stretch their perfect winning streak in the tournament.
