The local heroes could be happy with their second place in the group whereby they got the right to fight for a spot in the final round of the 2013 European Championship via the home and away matches scheduled for May 2013.

The standings of the group were actually already fixed on Saturday and hence the coaches could take this opportunity to line up some players who did not get much playing time in the past days. France was paced by Kevin Le Roux with 23 points while Hermans Egleskalns top scored once more for Latvia with 21, with Armands Celitans standing out in blocking with 6.

“We hadn’t seen so many spectators for a Volleyball tournament since a long time here in Latvia and they totally enjoyed the high-class matches that were played this weekend in Jelgava. We had a great atmosphere throughout the weekend and I hope our guys can make it to the final round of the European Championship next May” said the Secretary General of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, Egils Cirulis.
