The match did not start that well for the home side but with Aneta Havlickova and Juliana do Nascimento Costa on fire, Lokomotiv fought its way back and could claim the opening set with the score of 25-20.
The Azeris totally dominated the scene in the second and third set basically leaving no chance to Dinamo (25-18 and 25-13) displaying excellent blocks and a well organized offense.
“Even though I have been with the team only for a couple of days, I am happy that we claimed this win in great style. First of all we did show that we are a strong team and we delighted our fans” said Italian-born head coach Giuseppe Cuccarini who was appointed just a few days ago to steer Lokomotiv in its first adventure in the Champions League.
