A 58-year-old Italian expert Andrea Anastasi was appointed ONICO Warszawa head coach, replacing the Frenchman Stéphane Antiga who will work in the female volleyball for the first time in his career.
After finishing his more than successful professional career as a player, during which he won the CEV European championship, FIVB World Championship and FIVB World League with Italy national team (played as an outside hitter) once each, Anastasi started his coaching career that also turned to be fruitful. He led the national team of his home country to triumphs in the European Championships three times and World League twice. On a club level, Anastasi clinched trophies in the Polish Cup two times and Polish Super Cup once, all with Trefl Gdańsk.
He will coach the current Plus Liga silver medalists for at least two years.
