Gyselle Silva won’t be a member of Chemik in the 2020/21 season. The 28-year-old Cuban opposite hitter was one of the club’s pillars last season. She scored 249 points in the league and was chosen MVP of the Polish Cup. Silva decided to take a break from volleyball as she went on maternity leave. She’s the fourth player who said goodbye to Chemik. Ukrainian Iryna Trushkina, Ewelina Polak, and Pola Nowakowska left earlier.
Chemik also announced having extended the contract with Silva’s compatriot Wilma Salas. The 29-year-old outside hitter was the club’s top scorer last season with 321 points. Salas is the third player whose presence in Chemik’s roster for 2020/21 was confirmed. The other two are the setter Marlena Kowalewska and middle blocker Iga Wasilewska.
Chemik will be still commanded by Turkish Ferhat Akbaş.
