Atom Trefl played extremely well right from the start of the return match going up 12:6 and could easily pocket the opening set (25-17). In the second set, KS Palac attempted a comeback via the contribution of their Hungarian opposite Rita Liliom. She scored quite many points and after a block by Dominika Schulz on Rachel Rourke the score stood at 16 all. Palac moved up 22:20 but could not keep control of the game in the next few rallies to let the hosts flip the charts around and go for the 2:0 (25-22). By this moment, Atom Trefl had already booked a spot for the final four and head coach Adam Grabowski opted for his second lines who nevertheless played really well to finish it off in straight sets. Ukrainian middle-blocker Yuliya Shelukhina – who had played superbly right from the start of the game – anchored her side to the final 25-20.
“We did not play good in the second set but found back some good Volleyball in the third” team captain Izabela Belcik says.
“I am happy with today’s match as we have made only a few mistakes. We have worked hard to improve on the quality of our game and it turned out as we had planned” coach Grabowski adds.
