We have seen a big surprise in the fourth round of the 2021/22 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship.
There was a big surprise in one of the matches of the 2021/22 PlusLiga on the Sunday program. Indykpol AZS Olsztyn beat the so far unbeaten Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie without losing a set, partially 25-18, 25-20, and 25-23. Before the meeting, Aluron were seen as clear favorites. The team coached by Montenegrin Igor Kolaković won the first three meetings in PlusLiga, showing all they have title aspirations that coincide with the reinforcements they brought in the off-season. The Olsztyn players, on the other hand, had only one win thus far and head-to-head history not going in their favor. American Torey DeFalco and Karol Butryn highlighted the winning side with 18 points apiece.
The current Polish champions Jastrzębski Węgiel, driven by Wednesday’s victory in the Super Cup, welcomed PGE Skra Bełchatów in the PlusLiga hit. Prior to the match, Skra have not yet tasted the bitterness of a defeat, but tonight, with the exception of the third set, they were powerless. Tomasz Fornal emerged as the most prominent player of Jastrzębski, scoring 15 points, including four blocks. Jakub Popiwczak had 70% reception (20 digs, 35% perfect).
