POL M: Plusliga giants Skra still can’t get out of negative streak – Lubin inflict them 5th defeat in row

by WoV

PGE Skra Bełchatów suffered the fifth consecutive defeat in the 2022-23 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Lubin vs Skra

PGE Skra Bełchatów are doing terribly this season in PlusLiga. Semi-finalists of the previous season and nine-time Polish champions lost their fifth consecutive league game. This time, the penultimate team before the game, Cuprum Lubin, turned out to be better than Joel Bank’s wards after the tie-break in Round 9. Such a streak by Skra is surprising given that after four rounds they had a record of 3-1. Nothing indicated that the Bełchatów side would have problems in the next meetings. But, since then, they haven’t won any PlusLiga matches. Cuprum Lubin also didn’t impress, but no one expected them to, unlike Skra, who was one of the title favorites. Just like Skra, Lubin are 3-6, but with 5 fewer points than Skra on the account (7-12).

Austrian Alexander Berger top-scored the winning side with 20 points and was one of five players in double digits on his team. Moustapha M’Baye made 6 blocks. Dutch-Italian Dick Kooy tallied 19 points for Skra who also had five players in double digits. Karol Kłos collected the same number of block points as M’Baye.
