Clubs from Poland’s PlusLiga are stepping up to aid victims of the devastating floods in southwestern Poland. PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie are organizing collections for essential supplies, while Projekt Warszawa will donate a portion of ticket sales from their upcoming home match and run a relief drive. The collected goods will be sent to flood-affected areas near Nysa and Kłodzko.
Severe flooding has led to evacuations, property loss, and power outages in several towns. Due to the situation, the PlusLiga match between PSG Stal Nysa and Skra Bełchatów, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed. The match is now set for November 12 or 13.
Local authorities and volunteers are working to fortify riverbanks, while PlusLiga teams express their support for affected communities. President of Stal Nysa, Robert Prygiel, expressed concern in an interview with TVP Sport, revealing that some team members are unreachable. “Most of the team is confirmed safe, but we have no contact with a coach and player living in Nysa. Their homes are in the affected area, but we assume they have no electricity,” said Prygiel.
Severe floods have hit Europe, with Poland preparing to declare a state of natural disaster. The southwest region, near the Czech border, has been particularly devastated, including the town of Klodzko, where one fatality has been reported.
