PGE Projekt Warszawa clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the first match of the PlusLiga semifinals. The Warsaw side started strong, taking the opening two sets (25:22, 25:20), but Zawiercie, known as the “Jurassic Knights,” battled back to level the match by winning the next two (17:25, 19:25).
The decisive tie-break saw Projekt Warszawa regain momentum, securing the win 15:12 and avenging their previous loss to Aluron in the Polish Cup semifinals. The best-of-three series continues with the second match scheduled for April 23 in Sosnowiec.
Top scorers included Linus Weber with 20 points, Artur Szalpuk (13), Jakub Kochanowski (12), and Kevin Tillie (11) for Projekt Warszawa. For Aluron, Karol Butryn led with 19 points, followed by Aaron Russell (13), Bartosz Kwolek (11), and Mateusz Bieniek (10).
MVP honors went to Jakub Kochanowski, who impressed with a 60% attack efficiency and three blocks.
