They indeed joined the soccer game starring Lechia GDANSK and Zaglebie LUBIN watching the actions from the lodge owned by their main sponsor, PGE, thereby attending the last home match of the year for the local heroes.
“I had never attended a soccer game before” says Australian spiker Rachel Rourke. “The atmosphere was just fantastic and it was nice to see the audience getting so much involved in the actions of Lechia. I think it was a good way for the spectators to keep warm as it was really cold there! I am very happy that I had the opportunity to visit the PGE Arena in Gdansk”.
The cold weather was not a major problem: “Yes, it was cold but we have been jumping and singing all the time, so there was no time to think too much about the climate” adds Anita Kwiatkowska. As they got into the stadium, the players of Atom Trefl were showed on the mega screens of the stadium and were accepted with a standing ovation by the audience. The girls of Atom supported the most Brazilian Luiz Carlos dos Santos Deleu since he has been visiting some of the home matches played by the side captained by Izabela Belcik. “He even scored a goal, so that was a perfect night for us” adds Kwiatkowska. “We celebrated his goal from the stands and the match was really interesting as in the end the teams had scored four times”.
Saturday was a kind of relaxing experience for SOPOT after coming back from Bialystok and going into a busy week including the away match in the Czech Republic and the next round of the national league against Siodemka LEGINOWO. Next week Atom Trefl will be hosting Italy’s AsystelCarnaghi VILLA CORTESE for the last round of action in Pool B of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League.
