We’ve decided to check out the first seven games of Wilfredo Leon in a jersey of Zenit Kazan and the first seven games of the Frenchman in the Russian team.
The conclusion is – each of them needed a period of adaptation.
These two are not the same types of players. Wilfredo Leon has his own style, while Earvin Ngapeth is keeping up his own style.
The Cuban-born star arrived in Kazan in the season 2014/2015, becoming the winner and the MVP of the Champions League and the winner of the Russian championship as well.
So, Ngapeth has a huge pressure by the fans to repeat all of these things. The failure at the FIVB Men’s Championship is not a big deal since Wilfredo Leon managed to win it in his third season with Zenit.
Let’s compare their first seven games, counting every moment spent on the court.
Vs. Kuzbas (3-1 win), 8 points (two sets), 54% in the attack, third round Russian league
Vs. Belogorie (3-0 win) 12 points, 48% in the attack, fourth round Russian league
Vs. Zenit SP (3-1 win), 13 points, 50% in the attack, fifth round Russian league
Vs. Ural (3-0 win), 7 points, 38 % in the attack, sixth round, Russian league
Vs. United Volleys (3-0 win), 7 points (one set), 63 %, CEV Champions League
Vs. Fakel (3-2 defeat), 19 points, 48% in the attack, FIVB Club Men’s World Championship
Vs. Lube 23 (3-2 defeat), 47% in the attack, FIVB Club Men’s World Championship
Vs. Belogorie (3-1 defeat), 0 points (one set), first round Russian league

U are comparing an ordinary player with the king, let me tell u something when leon went to Kazan, he only had 21 years old, 4 years had been pass, with 0 pro experienced Leon won in 4 years all the tittles at pro level that earvin will only smell or watch on tv, u cannot compare Leon with Earvin, compare Earvin with Giba, almost same style of play skilled, but not to dominate like Leon has shown in the 2 months he had been playing in Italy, second and most important. Earvin doesnt come from nowhere like Leon did, he is in Zenit Kazan with 27 years, there is a huge gap of experience than when Leon was in Kazan, so the answer is simple, Leon win 0 excuses, the only 2 times Leon didnt win the gold medal was vs Cruzeiro when the world championship was held in Brasil and they had to travel almost the entire globe to get there. As much as I like Civitanova, I think Perugia can win with Leon all again. Except of course Supercup and World Club Championship.
