ASK made one of the biggest upsets in the 2019/20 Russian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

A team that was on the penultimate position in the charts of the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch regular season prior to this round, ASK, shocked one of the title favorites Fakel. Led by the French opposite hitter Jhon Wendt (33 points), the side from Nizhny Novgorod prevailed by a 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 25-22, 25-27, 17-15). Egor Kliuka scored 24 points for Fakel who remained third but now with only three points more than the fourth-placed Zenit Saint-Petersburg.

The team coached by the Finnish expert Tuomas Sammelvuo swept Yugra-Samotlor on the road and skipped Zenit-Kazan in the standings.

After ending a 4-game losing streak, a week ago, the giants of the Russian volleyball Belogorie has returned to the negative phase. The Belgorod side lost to Gazprom-Yugra in the tie-break but really embarrassed themselves in one of the sets in which they took only 6 points!
