Many coronavirus related notifications appeared in the regulations of the 2020/21 Russian Championship for both men and women, depicting in the best light how this pandemic has affected sports in general. The Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) supplemented previously determined regulations.
For now, a maximum of 10% of the capacity of the seats in venues can be occupied. In some small halls that would mean no more than 100 spectators who must respect the social distance of at least 1.5 – 2 meters, wear masks and gloves. Before entering the hall, spectators must measure their body temperature in a contactless way. Persons with elevated body temperature (37 ° C or more) or with symptoms of the disease won’t be allowed to enter into the hall. Dispensers with antiseptics are to be installed throughout the halls. At the same time, the fans who come to the game won’t be able to eat as the regulations prohibit the sale of food products in the sports arena, with the exception of packaged drinking water.
The volleyball court is declared a “clean zone”, as well as the area in which the participants of the match, referees, ambulance crew, security guards, doping officers, video check system operators, ballboys and ballgirls, television operators, photographers, reporters, etc. will be located. They all will have to provide negative PCR tests and are prohibited to leave the “clean zone” during matches. The pre-match ceremonies will also change.
Referees and players will enter the court separately. There will be no handshakes between rivals, as well as the exchange of souvenirs, and team photos. Moreover, all persons in the hall must be wearing masks and gloves. Only players have the right to remove them during the warm-up period and during the match, and the referees only after the end of the warm-up. All balls must be disinfected before and after the match, as well as during the breaks. Even in the locker rooms, players are asked to maintain a social distance, occupying the showers in a checkerboard pattern.
Clubs are recommended to use charter flights for travel to matches and booking an entire hotel or floor for themselves in order to avoid contact with other hotel guests. It’s recommended that communication between players and coaches with journalists should be made using videoconferences or phones. The mixed zone and video filming in the teams’ locker rooms aren’t allowed.
