On the second day of the 2020 Governor’s Cup of the Kaliningrad region, the reigning champions of Russia, Dinamo-Ak Bars (previously known as Dinamo-Kazan) rehabilitated itself after losing the opener and defeated the country’s national team in five sets: 3-2 (25-20, 25-11, 22-25, 19-25, 15-13). This was the second defeat of “Zbornaya“ in the tournament!
The rules of the competition are such that every player who’s listed in the Russia Women roster and is also a member of the participating club will play for that club in case of a mutual encounter. Today, the libero Anna Podkopaeva was the one that had to obey this rule. The 16-year-old Arina Fedorovtseva led Dinamo’s scorers with 23 points. Ekaterina Efimova tallied 20 points for Russia.
In the second match that was on a program on Day 2, the hosts Lokomotiv achieved another win as they downed Uralochka-NTMK in four sets.
