A duel between leaders Dinamo Moscow and 5th-placed Fakel aroused particular interest among volleyball fans in Russia. And it was not solely because both teams are title contenders in the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season, but also because the team from the north of the country was the only one who inflicted a defeat to Dinamo Moscow in the championship so far.
The club based in the country’s capital had a desire to take revenge in a match valid for Round 22 but failed and thus suffered one more defeat to Fakel in the season: 1-3 (23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25). Fakel broke the rival’s huge winning streak of 14 games in all competitions (10 games in the league).
Sweeping Neftyanik by a 3-0, Zenit Saint Petersburg (Ukrainian-Russian Dmytro Pashytskyy 12 points) ended their own series of losses that consisted of 3 games and moved up to 3rd place in the charts.
A surprisingly long winning streak of ASK of 8 games has been broken by Ural (1-3) for which Canadian John Gordon Perrin scored 22 points, Evgeniy Rybakov served 4 aces, and Dmitriy Kolenkovskiy made 4 blocks.
