The game in Kazan was a true thriller, mainly because of the fantastic third set! The overall result was 1-1 in sets, while Dinamo Moscow had 9 chances to take the important lead, 9 set points! However, away squad failed to use any of them. In most cases Wilfredo Leon was the savior of Zenit, but in two occasions, when Dinamo Moscow had counter-attacks to seize the set, home team performed strong blocks and stayed in the race.
Eventually, at the score 32:32, Leon scored for Zenit and brought the very first set point for the home team! Yuri Marichev, head coach of Dinamo Moscow, loudly protested because of that point, but the call stayed. Kazan powerhouse seized the following point with a strong block – 34:32, 2-1 for Zenit! That was the decisive moment in this match, as home side dominated the fourth set, and finished the game with 3-1 win.
The other semi-final game was not that exciting. Belogorie ran over Gazprom-Yugra, mostly thanks to Dmitriy Muserskiy who scored 16 points, and Georgy Grozer who added 12.
The second games are scheduled already for Saturday. The teams who score 3 wins will reach the big final.
