Interesting enough, in both Russian national team and Zenit he has the same head coach – Vladimir Alekno. In the interview for Sport-Express Alekno stated that he admires skills of Poletaev and that he won’t just give away him to any coach.
“Viktor is a well-mannered person, a very responsible young man who is fluent in English, who follows latest trends, and most importantly who is training really well. Of course, he needs to play for the club. We had options in Zenit to loan him, but I was not prepared to just leave him in someone’s hands. It was for the best for him to remain in Zenit and keep practicing with the strong team. But, he cannot be a substitution for Mikhailov forever…” said Alekno.
