Lokomotiv Baku claimed the much anticipated premiere victory in the European elite competition after beating Azerrail Baku, the team that received wild card 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21).
This way, Lokomotiv recovered from opening defeat from Russian Dinamo Kazan while Azerrail spoiled good impression created against German Allianz MTV Stuttgart.
As for the scorers, the Czech Aneta Havlíčková stood out in the winning team with 30 points. American duo Madison Kingdon – Jessica Susan Tow-Arnett collected 10 each in Azerrail.
In Pool D, Serbian Vizura Belgrade didn’t use momentum from a previous match when they defeatet French RC Cannes. They easily lost in Russia against Uralochka-NTMK Sverdlovskaya oblast 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-19).
Irina Zaryazhko led Uralochka with 17 points while Ljiljana Ranković scored 15 in Vizura.
