RUS M: 2012 Olympics winner Ilinykh joins Kuzbass, Kerminen extends, goodbye to Ojansivu

Kuzbass Kemerovo, Russian Men’s volleyball Championship Superliga participants, signed two names for the next season and extended with several more.

Two receivers of the Russian nationality, Dmitriy Ilinykh and Yaroslav Podlesnykh, will compete with Kuzbass in 2017/2018.

A 30-year-old Ilinykh is well-known to the wider volleyball audience as he became the 2012 Olympic champion, collecting 80 caps in the jersey of the Russian NT, adding 2013 CEV European Championship and 2011FIVB World League gold medals to the one from London Olympic Games. Ilinykh came to Kuzbass from Dinamo Moscow.

As for a 22-year-old Podlesnykh, he is the Russian prospect, arriving to Kuzbass from Belogorie Belgorod.

Previously, Kuzbass extended with opposite Viktor Poletaev, setter Sergey Makarov, middle blockers Nikolay Apalikov and Inal Tavasiev, receivers Anton Karpukhov and Sergey Nikitin as well as with Finnish libero Lauri Kerminen.

At the same time, Kuzbass parted ways with receivers Maksim Shpilev and Aleksey Evseev, setter Pavel Pankov, Finnish opposite Olli-Pekka Ojansivu and middle blocker Mikhail Shcherbakov. The last mentioned Shcherbakov has been a member of the club since its foundation, in 2008.
