The Dominican Republic proved once again why they’re a powerhouse in women’s volleyball, sweeping Colombia 3-0 to capture their seventh Pan American Cup title.

The straight-set victory — 25-21, 29-27, 25-22 — came at the Morelos Sports Complex, adding to the Dominicans’ impressive tally of 20 total medals in the tournament’s history. Colombia, showing determination throughout, settled for its second silver medal.
Gaila González led the charge with 20 points, while sisters Brayelin and Jineiry Martínez added 16 and 14 points respectively. Colombia’s top scorers were Laura Grajales and Ana Karina Olaya with 18 points each.
Dominican coach Marcos Kwiek acknowledged the match’s challenges but praised his team’s composure:
“It wasn’t flawless, but we finished when it mattered. Now we turn our focus to the World Cup.”
In the bronze medal match, Puerto Rico overcame hosts Mexico 3-1, capping the tournament with a spirited comeback performance.
