The president of the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, explained the reasons for parting ways with the women’s national team head coach, Giovanni Guidetti.
The TVF president, Üstündağ, released a statement published by TRT Spor regarding the end of the collaboration with Guidetti and the future of the women’s national team: “We didn’t do well in the (2022) World Championship. The team we expected wasn’t there. In EuroVolley 2023, we’ll feel at home in Germany. Then we’ll go to Belgium and we’ll be like the hosts again. So we’ll definitely play the final.”
Üstündağ added: “We’re a national team that can always aim for a medal. People who think differently mean they’ve lost their enthusiasm. I don’t approve of those people. We’re a team strong enough to win every match. I see ourselves as our greatest adversaries. Who we play against isn’t important.”
