TUR W: VakıfBank Bolsters Roster with Two American Players for Upcoming Season: Jordan Thompson and Alexandra Frantti

Turkish powerhouse VakıfBank is gearing up for the upcoming season with the addition of two American players to their roster. They have recently secured the signings of opposite hitter Jordan Thompson and outside hitter Alexandra Frantti.

Following their successful campaign in the 2022-2023 season, where they emerged victorious in the CEV Champions League and AXA Sigorta Cup Volley, VakıfBank continues to make significant moves in the transfer market. They recently announced the signing of Jordan Thompson as their new opposite hitter.

Born on May 5, 1997, in Minnesota, USA, Thompson began her volleyball journey at Cincinnati University before turning professional in Turkey with Fenerbahçe. She later played for Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and spent the previous season with Vero Volley Milano in Italy. Thompson is a standard member of the United States National Team and was part of the squad that won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Her national team career also includes victories in the FIVB Nations League in 2019 and 2021.

In addition to Thompson, VakıfBank also announced the signing of American outside hitter Alexandra Frantti. Frantti, born on March 3, 1996, in Illinois, USA, began her volleyball journey at Penn State in her home country and turned professional with the Slovenian team Calcit Volley. She went on to play for ASPTT Mulhouse, Developres Rzeszow, and Chieri before spending the last season with the Italian team Casalmaggiore. Frantti, who has received accolades such as the Best Spiker awards in NCAA, the French League, and the Polish Cup, proudly represents the United States National Team.
