
THY fought hard to secure a spot in the 2024/25 Turkish Women’s Cup semifinals, defeating Besiktas 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 15-13) in a tense quarterfinal clash on Thursday (Feb 13) in Istanbul.
Despite a strong challenge from Jovana Brakocevic’s Besiktas (20 pts), THY turned the match around after trailing in the fourth set. Karmen Aksoy shined with 17 points (12 attacks, 4 blocks, 1 ace), while Anthi Vasilantonaki led with 24 points.
In the semifinals, THY will face title favorites Fenerbahce, while Vakifbank takes on Eczacibasi in the other matchup.
