Halkbank – Belogorie
So, now it’s time for the high class competitions of the Playoff-12 held from today to Thursday, February 12 and it’s not a surprise that there will be three teams from Russia, Poland and Italy each, competing in the knock-out-phase matches. In addition, there’s one club from Germany, Romania and Turkey each.
The Playoff-12 couldn’t have a more spectacular beginning. It’s the new edition of the 2014 final match between Halkbank and the defending champion Belogorie Belgorod (18:00 C.E.T.).
Making it to this stage of the competition was a great success for C.V.M. Tomis Constanța from Romania. But now they are going to have a tough task to solve: playing against the winner and host of 2013 Final Four, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk.
VfB Friedrichshafen is waiting for Asseco Resovia Rzeszów from Poland. It will be the first Champions League duel between these two teams.
Another interesting duel will be the match between PGE Skra Bełchatów and Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia. The Italian club moved up to the Playoff-12 to replace Final Four hosts, Berlin Recycling Volleys.
Also the second polish-italian clash, the match between KS Jastrzębski Węgiel and Sir Safety Perugia is going to be great.
For Copra Piacenza it will be a tough challenge playing against Zenit Kazan, because the Russian team didn’t lose a single set in preliminary matches.
