In the match valid for the 14th round of the 2020/21 Russian Men’s Superliga Parimatch regular season, Yugra-Samotlor beat the country’s most titled club Zenit-Kazan with a score of 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22). This was the first victory of the Nizhnevartovsk side over Zenit in the history of the Russian Championship. In previous attempts, Yugra-Samotlor didn’t even manage to take a single point from the Kazan team.
This was only the fifth victory of Yugra-Samotlor in the competition, which put them at ninth place in the charts. Zenit, who remained the leaders despite a defeat today, came to the match without their head coach Vladimir Alekno and Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth (violated the club discipline).
The most productive players on the winning side were Vitaliy Papazov and Stanislav Masliev (15 points each).
