Out of several clubs that had a surprisingly good start of the 2020/21 Russian Women’s Superliga Parimatch regular season, and weren’t put in a group of title favorites prior to the season, Dinamo Krasnodar remained the only one who continued to amaze. In Round 18, they came back from 0-2 to 3-2 against Tulitsa and took over the vice-leaders position from Dinam-Ak Bars, coming to 2 points from the leaders Dinamo Moscow (41 vs 39) in the charts. It was the 9th successive win of Dinamo Krasnodar in the competition.

The encounter between Dinamo Krasnodar and Tulitsa was interested from the family point of view given that a couple of spouses were on opposite sides. The head coach of Tulitsa, Aleksandr Perepelkin, is the husband of the Dinamo Krasnodar middle blocker – the 2010 world champions – Mariya Perepelkina. Also, the statistician of the Tula club, Mikhail Tretyakov, is the husband of Dinamo’s libero – the winner of the 2009 FIVB Grand Prix – Ekaterina Tretyakova.

The top-scorer of the match was Mariya Khaletskaya from the Krasnodar club with 22 points. Angelina Lazarenko set up 7 of the team’s 23 blocks, while Ekaterina Pipunyrova had 71 % reception (14 digs, 1 error, 57 % excellent).
