Italy Keeps Rolling in VNL with Easy Win Over Thailand
Italy’s women’s national team continued their winning streak in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League, cruising past Thailand in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) in Hong Kong. That makes it 6 wins in a row for the defending champs, who now sit comfortably at the top of the standings.
Egonu Lights the Fire, Malual Keeps It Burning
Star opposite Paola Egonu started strong, racking up 9 points in the first set before getting some well-earned rest. She still led all scorers with 13 points. But it was her substitute, Adhuoljok Malual, who stole the spotlight. Malual came in swinging—literally—with an 80% success rate in attack and 10 points, proving Italy’s bench strength is just as scary as its starters.
“I’m really proud of how we played,” Malual said after the game. “We stayed focused and didn’t let up. Hopefully we keep this up!”
Middle blocker Sarah Fahr added 10 points of her own and finished off the match with two clutch kills. Degradi, Nwakalor, and libero De Gennaro all chipped in with steady play to shut down Thailand’s attempts to mount a comeback.
Thailand’s captain Ajcharaporn Kongyot led her team with 9 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop Italy’s momentum.
