TUR W: Fenerbahçe Opet Welcomes Stefano Lavarini as New Head Coach

Fenerbahçe Opet officially announced the appointment of Italian expert, Stefano Lavarini, as part of the team’s restructuring for the upcoming season. This announcement brings closure to previous speculations surrounding the successor to Zoran Terzic.

Stefano Lavarini, born in 1979, boasts a rich career in volleyball coaching that dates back to the mid-90s. He initially started as an assistant coach for Pallavolo Omegna, a team in the Italian league during the 1995-96 season. Subsequently, he assumed the role of the head coach for various renowned Italian league teams such as BigMat Sanpaolo Chieri, Linkem Club Italia, Foppapedretti Bergamo, and Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio.

In the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Lavarini took his expertise beyond Italian shores, assuming the role of head coach for Itambé/Minas, a top-tier team from Brazil. In addition, he made a significant contribution to the South Korean Women’s National Team, serving as their head coach from 2019 to 2021.

Most recently, Lavarini was at the helm of Italian powerhouse Igor Gorgonzola Novara and has been leading the Polish Women’s National Team since 2022.
