Current SuperLega and CEV Champions League runners-up Cucine Lube Civitanova contracted Cuban-born superstar Yoandy Leal for two seasons, making the transfer official.
The recent statement of the sporting director Giuseppe Cormio that the Lube did not close the deal with an outside hitter brought discomfort among the fans of an Italian club. Fortunately for them, a 29-year-old Leal became the third reinforcement of Lube after Balaso and Bruninho. The SuperLega side also renewed with Sokolov.
Leal spent the last six seasons playing in Sada Cruzeiro, Brazil, becoming the FIVB Club World Championship winner three times and Brazilian Superliga winner five times. In addition, the player who gained the right to compete for Brazil national team, won South American Club Championship four times, Brazilian cup three times and Brazilian Supercup two times. Individually, he was named MVP of the FIVB Club World Championship once, and Brazilian Superliga and South American Club Championship twice each. This is just a part of individual recognitions which Leal got himself, so far.
