Grupa Azoty Chemik Police has made an exciting addition to their roster for the upcoming 2023/24 season. Hailing from Hebei, China, the 33-year-old setter, Ding Xia, has been unveiled as their latest signing.
Ding Xia’s volleyball credentials are nothing short of outstanding. Throughout her illustrious career, she has clinched numerous accolades, including an Olympic gold, a World Championship bronze, and two World Cup titles representing China.
Speaking about her move to Europe, Xia shared, “I am both excited and a bit overwhelmed. I’ve been playing volleyball for many years, but this is the first time in a different country. I am about to experience a new culture, and I am curious about how I will fit into it. Chemik is a brand known throughout Europe. I want to help the team. I believe that a setter not only distributes balls but also acts as the glue between all the attackers.”
Currently, Ding Xia is fulfilling her commitments with the Chinese national team. However, she will don the Grupa Azoty Chemik Police jersey before the commencement of the league games.
Her inclusion rounds off the team’s roster for the 2023/24 season, which is as follows:
- Opposites: Elizabet Inneh-Varga, Bruna Honorio
- Outside hitters: Martyna Łukasik, Natalia Mędrzyk, Monika Fedusio, Saliha Sahin
- Middle blockers: Agnieszka Korneluk, Iga Wasilewska, Dominika Pierzchała
- Setters: Marlena Kowalewska, Ding Xia
- Liberos: Martyna Grajber-Nowakowska, Monika Jagła
With such a robust team composition, Grupa Azoty Chemik Police looks forward to a promising season ahead.
